Corbin City Commission approves $198,308 bid for playground equipment

Date:

The Larry Stevens Memorial Playground site is empty now after equipment was removed earlier this year following a failed safety inspection. The Corbin City Commission voted last week to install new equipment, which will include a better surface.

Two months after the playground equipment at Rotary Park was condemned and demolished, the Corbin City Commission has approved the bid to replace it.

At a special called commission meeting Friday morning, the commissioners approved City Manager Marlon Sams’ recommendation to accept the bid from Miracle Recreation of Kentucky and Tennessee at a cost of $198,308.

The cost of the project includes the installation of a red and black rubber mat surface in place of the mulch used with the old playground.
