News Journal staff members receive several awards in Appalachian Photographic Society Amateur Photo Contest

Three of the News Journal staff placed and won awards in the Appalachian Photographic Society Amateur Photo Contest held during NIBROC 2017.

Trent Knuckles, publisher of the News Journal, won the Dr. Thomas Barnes Nature Photography Award for a photo of a jellyfish that he took at Newport Aquarium.

Teresa Brooks, Society Editor, won Best of Show, and also first place in the Scenic category for a sunrise photo that was taken at Myrtle Beach. She also won third place in the People/Still Life category with a photo of her and her husband’s ‘47

Dodge truck that was taken at Cumberland Falls.

Mark White, News Editor, won first place in the Enhanced/Altered Photo category for a photo of an owl he took at the Cincinnati Zoo, and he also won an honorable mention on the photo of a leopard that he took at the Pittsburgh Zoo.
