BBQ competition kicks off Saturday in Williamsburg

Date:

A barbecue competition will be held on July 7 as part of the bicentennial celebration.

The competition will take place on the Whitley County Courthouse lawn on the Main Street side.

The winner of the competition will receive as a $50 gift card provided by Moonlight Meat Processing.

Applications for the competition can be picked up at Judge-Executive Pat White’s office. It is free to enter, but participants must provide their own cooking utensils and containers.

Participants can cook pork, beef or chicken that will be adjudicated by up to two to three judges.

The food can be precooked or cooked on site as long as the meat is ready to be served at noon.

Individuals in the community are welcome to taste the food for free.

It’s not something that has been done around here before, said Amber Owens, the Whitley County director of county projects.

Muddy Boy Records will provide music and karaoke for the event.

The celebration will kick off at 10:00 a.m. and last until 2:00 p.m.
