Alexander arrested for assault with knife

Date:

A Wednesday morning preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Williamsburg man, who allegedly assaulted two people with a knife.

Dennis Edward Alexander, 31, of Highway 204, pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault and one count of third-degree criminal mischief during his arraignment Thursday in Whitley District Court.

Judge Fred White appointed the public advocate’s office to represent Alexander, and set a $15,000 cash bond in his case. If Alexander is released from custody, his bond conditions call for him to have no contact with the alleged victims.

Williamsburg Police Detective Bobby Freeman arrested Alexander about 8:14 a.m. Thursday at the Taylor Apartments, which are located off 10th Street.

Freeman, K-9 Officer Elijah Hunter and Officer Dorman Patrick Jr. responded to the residence to investigate a fight complaint.

When police arrived at the scene, they discovered that Alexander had allegedly assaulted two people with a knife, and had damaged the bedroom door by punching it causing a hole in the door, according to his arrest citation.

One of the male victims had cuts on his face, which were caused by the knife. Officers seized the knife that was allegedly used in the assault, according to the arrest citation.

Alexander was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
