George Paul Rains, 78, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Baptist Health Corbin.
Born in Williamsburg, he was the son of the late John and Hattie Jones Rains.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Billy Rains.
George was a member and deacon at Hopewell Baptist Church. He retired from Corbin City Utilities having been their general manager for 29 years.
Surviving are his wife Jo Eileen Mack Rains; daughter Paula Sullivan (Allen); son Steve Patrick; grandchildren: Tyler Sullivan, Andrew Sullivan, and Matthew Sullivan; siblings: Joe Rains (Anna), Ray Rains (Etta), and Faye Warfield (Larry); and several nieces, nephews, family and friends, all who mourn his passing.
The funeral service was held Friday, March 22, at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis McCoy and Rev. Herschel Walker officiating.
Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Steve Patrick, Brian Rains, Phil Chaney, David Warfield, Rick Centers, and Scott Marcus.
Corbin City Utilities employees served as honorary pallbearers.
