Baptist Health Corbin resumes patient visitation

Date:

Baptist Health Corbin re-opened patient visitation on a limited basis Monday morning.

Starting Oct. 25, visitation resumed from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. with one visitor per patient at a time for those, who are inpatient receiving acute medical, rehabilitation or behavioral health services. In addition, one visitor will be allowed during those hours for outpatients in the emergency department and surgery, according to a hospital release.

The labor and delivery unit will allow two visitors at a time per patient.

“Patients with an active COVID-19 infection, who are hospitalized or nearing end-of-life, will be handled on an individual basis with the goal to safely allow for visitation whenever possible. Anyone visiting COVID-19 patients will wear appropriate PPE while in the patient’s room,” the release noted.

When visiting, remember to wash your hands with soap and water or use hand sanitizer when entering and leaving patient rooms.

“The well-being and safety of our patients and the community is always our top priority,” said Anthony Powers, president of Baptist Health Corbin. “Our healthcare professionals are highly trained and ready to handle any kind of emergency. We ask that visitors adhere to these temporary restrictions so that we can maintain the safest possible environment for everyone.”

On Aug. 29, Baptist Health Corbin temporarily halted almost all patient visitation because of a significant increase in the COVID-19 positivity rate in our area.
