Ruby Lois Manning

Date:

Ruby Lois Manning, age 94 of Rockholds, Kentucky, peacefully transitioned to her Heavenly home on March 7, 2023. She was born on October 3, 1928 in Maple Creek, Kentucky to the late James Wesley and Amy Elizabeth (Hill) Woods. She was the youngest surviving child of ten in a loving, Christian family and was known throughout life for kindness, generosity, compassion, love, and faith. She greeted everyone with a smile, a firm handshake or hug, and words that found the best in people and imparted wisdom and hope. As a talented needle crafter, she fashioned prize-winning afghans, blankets, and throws during the years she was active with the Rockholds Homemakers. Her early work as a seamstress with Lion Uniform and later work with American Greeting brought opportunities to expand her circle of friendship. Always a wonderful cook, she found great joy preparing meals for family and friends and through her work in the cafeteria of Williamsburg City Schools. She had a tremendous sense of humor and uncanny capacity for quick-witted, one liners and willingness to, as she would say, “act a fool.” Above all else, she is remembered for her strong Christian faith, service through church, and leading a life of witness by example. As a devoted wife of 61 years, she loved “Deck” and his family as her own. Her children and grandchildren across five generations were wrapped in her love, prayers, hymns, and joy. Although those remaining are saddened by her loss, she will always be cherished for the love she gave, and we know she has finally achieved what she most longed for – to walk the Streets of Gold.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dexter Paul Manning, and siblings Leslie Woods, Flossie Cupp, Cecil Woods, Hettie Strunk, Luria Cupp, Curtis Woods, Audrey Beavers, Erma Berry, Herald Woods, Leonard Woods.
Pallbearers are Jason Manning, Bobby Lee, Bill Berry, Darrell Woods, Les Strunk, and Michael Woods. Honorary Pallbearers are Shaun Manning, Jonathan Manning, Kyle West, Travis Crawford, Lucan Manning, Evan Manning, and her beloved nephews and great nephews.
A visitation will be held Friday, March 10, after 5:00 p.m. in Croley Funeral Home
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Croley Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Logan officiating. Following the services, she will be laid to rest in the Highland park Cemetery-Croley Addition.
