About 11:40 p.m., Deputy Jesse Smith was patrolling on Ky. 233 in Gray when he observed a motorcycle fail to stop at a stop sign on Dr. Parker Road.

“When Deputy Smith activated his emergency equipment to conduct a traffic stop, the operator of the motorcycle attempted to flee by going through the yard of a residence. The motorcycle crashed into a ditch and was unable to continue,” according to the release.

Smith arrested Crit Golden, 42, initially charging him with first-degree fleeing or evading police, operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, no registration plates, no registration receipt, disregarding a stop sign, no vehicle insurance and failure to produce vehicle insurance card.

During his arrest, two clear bags containing approximately one and one-half ounces of suspected methamphetamine were located in his possession resulting in an additional charge of first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, according to the release.

He was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center where he was booked at 12:59 a.m. Sunday, according to the detention center’s website. As of 10:30 a.m. Tuesday he was still lodged in the detention center.

Golden has a preliminary hearing in his case scheduled on May 4 at 9:30 a.m. in Knox District Court, according to online court records.
