Last week, the Williamsburg High School track and field team hosted its Gold Medal Meet at the University of the Cumberlands. Many coverage area athletes posted top finishes at the event, including the following:
- Kaylee Rains (W’burg) – Runner-up in girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.65
- NaShawn Brooks (Corbin) – First place in boys 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.96 and firt place in boys 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.62
- Peyton Hamilton (W’burg) – Runner-up in boys 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.55 and runner-up in boy 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.34
- Bryson Mahan, Colton Mullis, Wesley Sizemore and Dee Parker (Whitley Co.) – First place in boys 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:35.23
- Hartlee Viars (Corbin) – First place in girls 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.95
- Jayce Stewart (Corbin) – First place in boys 400-meter dash with a time of 53.06 an runner-up in boys 200-meter dash with a time of 23.36
- Tanner Logan (Whitley Co.) – Runner-up in boys 400-meter dash with a time of 53.62
- Hadley Elmore (Whitley Co.) – Runner-up in girls 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.31
- Tatum Croley (W’burg) – Runner-up in girls 3200-meter run with a time of 12:22.43
- Hartlee Viars, Emma Massengill, Jaycee Frye and Hadley Elmore (Corbin) – Runner-up in girls 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:26.14
- NaShawn Brooks, Ethan Slone, Kobe Dixon and Jayce Stewart (Corbin) – First place in boys 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:37.06
Top finishes in field events included:
- Jace Hatfield (Corbin) – Runner-up in boys shot put
- Chase Meddles (W’burg) – First place in boys long jump
- Masyn Elam (Corbin) – First place in girls triple jump
- NaShawn Brooks (Corbin) – First place in boys triple jump
- Nate Goodin (W’burg) – First place in boys high jump
- Zyler Housekeeper (W’burg) – Runner-up in boys pole vault
