The official beginning to summer is still two weeks away, but Williamsburg is heralding the season a bit early, kicking off its summer event schedule later this week.
The first event of the summer is a Block Party this Friday at Bill Woods Park, featuring the band Off the Clock from Lexington. The event will take place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Williamsburg Main Street Manager Jonathan Wyatt encouraged the community to come out and enjoy an “evening of music, dancing and fun.”
The following week, on Friday, June 16, is The Main Squeeze Lemonade Stand Contest, which is a first-time event in Williamsburg. The contest will have children setting up their own lemonade stands throughout the Green Space on Main to sell lemonade and vie for the best decorated stand. That event is set to begin at 6 p.m.
The contest will be followed by the season’s first Movie in the Park at Bill Woods Park beginning at dusk.
Wyatt said that more information regarding both events would be posted to the Williamsburg Main Street Program’s Facebook page in the coming week.
Those events will be followed up with the Cumberland River Cruise-In on Saturday, June 17, at the courthouse square.
The fun continues on June 23 for Country Meets City, which will be held at the Green Space on Main from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Wyatt said that he was ready to get the event season going and asked that the community be actively involved.
“We’re so excited to get our 2023 summer season off to a great start,” said Wyatt. “Remember, the success and continuation of these events are only made possible by your support. So, come out and support your small town.”
