Capt. Robert L. “Bob” Eckert, USMC Ret., 88, passed away on Novem-ber 11, 2018.

He retired from the military after serving 23 years of active duty including service in Korea, Japan and Vietnam.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maxine, and two daughters Patty (Brent) Miller and Laura Tucker, both of Corbin; 11 grandchildren: Ian Miller, Braden Miller, Bailey Miller, Brennan Miller, Calley (Ty) Proffitt, Courtney Miller, Clay Tucker, Catie (Jimbo) Dugger, Max Herren, Heather Herren and Scott (Danielle) Herren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

A Celebration of Life service with military honors will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019. The service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Grace on the Hill Church in Corbin. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 1088 of Corbin with family friend, Dalton Eubanks, USMC, presenting the flag.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Building Fund at Grace on the Hill Church, 1632 Cumberland Falls Highway, Corbin, KY 40701.
