Jasper “Lonnie” Wright, Jr., age 89, passed away on January 1, 2019 in Macon, GA.

He was born on December 15, 1929 to the late Jasper “Sharky” Wright, Sr. and Ruth (Shepherd) Wright in Hazard, KY.

Early in his life, Lonnie worked as a coal miner in Eastern Kentucky. Later, he became a diesel mechanic. He loved working at both.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Jean Wright, and son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Rhonda Wright.

He is survived by wife, Laura Couch Harp Wright whom he married on September 26, 2006; four sons, Glenn Wright (Sonda), of Ludlow, KY, Marvin A. Wright, of Florence, KY, Jerry Robert Wright (Pauline), of Williamstown, KY, and John Harp, of Melbourne, FL; four daughters, Janice Cox (Ralph), of Morning View, KY, Melinda Harp, of Warner Robbins, GA, April D. Wright (Jennifer), of Science Hill, KY, and Darlene Harp, of Titusville, FL; 33 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and a host of friends and other relatives to mourn his passing.

The funeral service was held Monday, January 7, at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home in Williamstown, KY

Graveside funeral and interment was conducted on Tuesday, January 8, at the Douglas Cemetery located in the Oswego Community of Jellico, TN.

Cox & Son Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge of local arrangements.
