The case involving an armed Williamsburg man, who was shot by a Kentucky State Police Trooper, will be presented to the Whitley County Grand Jury on Feb. 7.
Carl Amos Moses, 26, appeared in Whitley District Court on Monday in front of District Judge Fred White.
White sent the case to the grand jury after Moses waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
Moses is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), second-degree assault, and violation of a Kentucky E.P.O./D.V.O.
On Jan. 15, police responded to a hostage incident near Emlyn.
According to the assault warrant obtained by Kentucky State Police Lt. Jason Joseph, Moses allegedly assaulted his wife with a handgun and caused physical injuries. In addition, Moses allegedly discharged the firearm in her residence and in the vicinity of their five children before refusing to let them leave.
The wanton endangerment warrant alleged that Moses also pointed a handgun at the responding officers, Joseph wrote in the warrant.
A third warrant, written by Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Lawson, stated that Moses possessed a firearm during a hostage situation in violation of a domestic violation order that expires on June 11, 2022.
Moses is being held in the Whitley County Detention Center.
