The Corbin Lady Hounds opened up play in the 2025 13th Region tournament at the Arena Tuesday night. The 52nd District champion Harlan Lady Green Dragons gave them all they had, but in the end the ladies in red were able to pull out the 77-66 win.
The Hounds were dominant in the early stages of Tuesday's opening round contest, jumping out to a 10-0 lead before being up 22-8 at the end of the first quarter. Harlan was able to cut the lead back down to eight points in the second quarter, but Corbin remained in control, 41-31, going into the half.

In the previous installment of Par for the Course we met Donnie Caldwell, the resident golf pro overseeing operations at the Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville. This week, we meet Caldwell’s brother, Ronnie, and his nephew, Braxton, both of whom are tasked with keeping the course not only functional, but looking great as well.
With about four decades of on-the-job experience, Ronnie Caldwell was there when Wasioto Winds was first being developed. He has served as course superintendent since the very beginning, and he is now passing his extensive knowledge down to his son, Braxton, who recently completed a turf management certification program at the Southeast Kentucky Community and...

The Redhounds got out a 7-0 start, and led by ten points, 15-5, at the end of the first quarter. They managed to extend their lead out to 14 points, 29-15, by the half. His 24 total points scored in the first half included five three-point buckets.
Akins would go on to lead all scoring on...
With extensive field renovations taking place at Whitley County High School, the baseball and softball Colonels are both eager to get back to action on newly installed turf playing surfaces. Things aren’t quite ready yet, but with some good luck when it comes to the weather (badly needed), games should be able to take place at WCHS later this spring.
While coaches Jeremy Shope and Angela Singleton wait for the remodel job to finish up, they are keeping their teams busy with indoor workouts and, when able, the use of middle school facilities and the high school’s turf football field. The situation is less-than-ideal, but both squads are making the...

This included the introduction of some new executives who are being tasked with more effectively managing and promoting the many exciting initiatives that are ongoing within the organization. Before we look at the who’s who, however, let’s take just a moment to consider what each individual organization under the Golf House Kentucky umbrella is all about.

The world of minor league baseball is full of unexpected twists and turns. Just ask Chase Estep. Before graduating from Corbin High School in 2019, he helped lead the Redhounds to a pair of regional championships on the baseball diamond and back-to-back appearances in the Class 3A football state championship game.
Estep moved on to Lexington after graduation, where he played baseball for the University of Kentucky. After his first season as a Wildcat got cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he returned for what he described as a “down year” for him personally in 2021. It was at this point that things really began to turn around.
“I switched...
