Public’s help sought to locate missing man

Williamsburg Police are asking for the public’s help to locate a missing person, who disappeared about one week ago. They say the man isn’t in trouble and simply ask that he contact them, if he reads this, so they can verify that he is alright. Garry J. After days of intense searching in record heat, a missing 75-year-old Whitley County man has finally been found alive. On Wednesday evening, just before 8:00 p.m., the Whitley County Sheriff's Department shared the following via their official Facebook page: "By the grace of God and with the help of so many different agencies and volunteers, Darrell Carter has been located ALIVE. He is being treated at this time by EMS personnel and will be transported to the hospital. We cannot thank everyone involved and civilian volunteers enough." The father of a Woodbine man, who is accused of drug trafficking and murder, pled guilty in federal court Friday to retaliation against a federal law enforcement officer, who was one of the lead investigators in his son’s case. William H. Nantz pled guilty to the sole count in the information of retaliation against a witness in exchange for prosecutors recommending a sentence of not less than 30 months in prison but not more than 87 months. W’burg woman found dead inside truck Thursday afternoon

Williamsburg Police and the Whitley County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death of a woman found inside a truck early Thursday afternoon off a well-traveled road, but say so far no foul play is suspected in the case. “We saw nothing on scene to indicate to us at this time that any foul play is involved. W’burg woman suffers life threatening injuries during machete attack

A Williamsburg woman had to be airlifted early Sunday morning after allegedly being attacked during a domestic dispute with a machete, according to a Williamsburg Police Department release. About 4:20 a.m., Williamsburg police responded to a possible domestic dispute at 250 South Second Street. When police arrived at the scene, they made contact with Darryl Alan Earls at the front door, who “was covered in blood,” according to the release. “Officers then located a female victim with life threatening injuries to the head and face. Woman indicted in murder of London businessman

A woman accused of fatally shooting a London businessman in September 2021 was indicted by a Laurel County grand jury Friday. Victoria T. Strelsky, 49, of London, was named in a three-count indictment for charges that occurred September 24, 2021 when she allegedly killed Bryan McCarty. Count one of the indictment charges Strelsky with murder. Count two of the indictment charges Strelsky with second-degree forgery. Count three of the indictment charges Strelsky with tampering with physical evidence. Freedom was only one locked jail door away for convicted killer Paul Brock and an accused killer Nicholas Rucker during a failed escape attempt from the Whitley County Detention Center late Friday evening. “Paul Brock and Nicholas Rucker were very close to getting out. Corbin man found guilty of three counts of murder

A Corbin man was found guilty of the 2018 murders of Aaron Byers, Mary Jackson, Tiffany Byers and the fetal homicide of Tiffany Byers’ unborn child Thursday evening in Whitley Circuit Court. Paul Brock, of Corbin, was also found guilty of one count of tampering with physical evidence. The 12-member jury returned the verdict at approximately 7:15 p.m. The verdict was reached after nine days of testimony. Whitley County High School’s new boys’ basketball coach will look familiar to Colonel Nation as Eric Swords will be making the move from Williamsburg.
