Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies have made two arrests in connection with a local multi pound methamphetamine drug trafficking organization, which they say has been dismantled and was distributing drugs in the Corbin area, according to a sheriff’s department release late Friday afternoon.
Deputy Dylan Messer initiated the investigation on Jan. 25.
Through the investigation, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Narcotics Interdiction Team learned that Jalen Pasley, also known as Jalen Marshall, 29, of Louisville, was allegedly engaged in the distribution of multiple pound quantities of methamphetamine from Louisville to Laurel County, the release stated.

The juvenile is described as a 6’1” male weighing about 185 pounds. He has black hair, hazel eyes and fair skin.

Kentucky State Police have released the name of the suspect and the name of the officer involved in a non-fatal trooper-involved shooting that occurred about two weeks ago in the north Corbin/southern Laurel County area.
The officer was identified Monday afternoon as Trooper Stephen Walker, a 39-year-veteran of the agency. In accordance with KSP policies and procedures, Walker was placed on administrative leave following the shooting, according to a KSP release.
The suspect was identified as Jeffrey Paradise, 32, of Corbin. He remains in the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital where he continues to be treated, according to the release.

A Kentucky State Police trooper shot an armed man following a domestic dispute in Whitley County late Saturday evening, according to a KSP release.
The KSP Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the trooper-involved shooting that occurred about 11:23 p.m. on Jan. 15, near Williamsburg.
The preliminary investigation indicates that on Saturday, Whitley County E-911 Dispatch requested assistance from KSP in reference to a domestic dispute at a residence located at US25W. It was reported that a subject had fired shots inside the residence and was refusing to allow his wife and children to leave the residence, the release stated.

Cumberland Valley Electric is working to restore power to more than 3,000 customers.
The electric cooperative has an outage affecting 950 customers on East Ky 92 in Whitley County near the county line. This is the largest reported outage in the county as of 10:35 a.m.
According to the outage map on cumberlandvalley.coop, the majority of the outages were across Whitley County.
As of 10 a.m. Monday, approximately 2,350 customers were without power. The largest outages, involving more than 100 customers, were located around Ky. 204 and near the Williamsburg-Whitley County Airport.
Outages were scattered, primarily, across the county between Corbin and Williamsburg.

Kentucky State Police is actively investigating a trooper involved shooting that happened late Tuesday evening in Corbin.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Scottie Pennington, the public affairs officer at Post 11 in London, said it is still early in the investigation, but he did confirm no troopers or bystanders were injured during the incident.
No other information has been released because the incident is under active investigation.

A Corbin man, who was recently arrested on a warrant charging him with 46 counts of cruelty to animals, was released from the Whitley County Detention Center on his own recognizance.
The arrest stems from a from a search warrant served at his residence on Nov. 9 during which law enforcement located 27 dead animals.
Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Lawson and Whitley County Animal Control Officer Larry Centers took Ottis Sizemore, Jr., 37, into custody just after noon after he was located at a business on Bee Creek Road.
Lawson stated in the arrest citation that he was called to the area after Centers observed Sizemore’s black Chevrolet pickup truck.
