Forcht Bank has awarded four graduating high school seniors a $5,000 scholarship as part of its Community Impact Scholarship for the 2024-2025 school year. Since the scholarship program began in 2021, Forcht Bank has offered three scholarships per school year. This year, in honor of Forcht Bank’s 40-year anniversary, a fourth $5,000 scholarship was awarded. Chloe Lefevers, Ella Sewell, Ashley Nevison and Chase Turner will each receive $5,000 to help further their education. Baptist Health Corbin is proud to welcome its third group of Pre-Med Academy students – a program aimed at mentoring and inspiring future physicians from southeastern Kentucky. This summer, five outstanding local students – each with a GPA of 3.5 or higher – will participate in the immersive program, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship across multiple medical specialties. All five students are passionate about pursuing careers in medicine, with the shared goal of returning home to serve their communities in the future. A large house fire that started late Thursday night has left a three-story home a total loss and investigators are looking for a possible cause. The call regarding the fire was received at 10:33 p.m., according to Williamsburg Fire Chief Larry Todd, with crews on scene within just minutes. Cumberland River Cruise-In takes over downtown W’Burg Sat.

Photos by TIMOTHY WYATT  This year’s lone Cumberland River Cruise-In saw several dozen classic and fancy vehicles take over downtown Williamsburg on Saturday. The vehicles were lined around the perimeter of the old Whitley County Courthouse while vendors were set up in the yard. Williamsburg Main Street Program opted to move to only one cruise-in this year instead of doing it monthly throughout the summer in an attempt to drive up engagement.
