Whitley Co. softball run-rules Williamsburg in fifth inning

The Lady Colonels defeated the Lady Jackets, 14-0, in five innings on April 9. Whitley County has won the last 11 match ups against Williamsburg. The two teams will meet again at 6 p.m. on May 7 at Williamsburg.

Corbin downs W’burg in district matchup

The Corbin Redhounds defeated the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets at home on Monday with a final score of 11-1. The two teams met up again Tuesday night. The final score was not available as of print deadline. As of Monday, Corbin had won the 12 most recent matchups between the two programs.

Third all-time winningest KY high school football coach dies

The third all-time winningest Kentucky high school football coach died April 9. In his 48 seasons, Coach Larry French spent time at the helm of six football programs. He retired in January. The last stop in French’s career was at Middlesboro. Since joining the Yellowjackets staff in 2019, he battled Williamsburg and Lynn Camp High Schools each year except for 2020. While French was at Middlesboro, he recorded a clean sweep of Lynn Camp (7-0, including playoffs). Corbin names new boys’ basketball head coach

A former Union Commonwealth University head coach will take over the Corbin Redhounds Basketball Program. Corbin High School officials announced Kevin Burton will lead the Redhounds during the upcoming season. Burton compiled 260 wins during his 11 years at the university and led his team to an NAIA National Championship in 2017. Before his time at Union, Burton coached at both St. Catharine College and Lambuth (Tenn.) University. His overall coaching record stands at 477 wins and 177 losses. Burton replaces Tony Pietrowski who led Corbin's boys basketball program for 25 seasons. Pietrowski took over the girls program earlier this year. Corbin Athletics posted this image to social media as part of Monday's announcement.

W’burg student named a 2026 KHSAA – Ky Dept. of Agriculture Ag Athlete of the Year

Williamsburg’s Zaden Housekeeper was one of six students recognized at the KHSAA Boys’ Sweet Sixteen® State Basketball Tournament as a 2026 Kentucky High School Athletic Association-Kentucky Department of Agriculture Ag Athletes of the Year. Redhounds fall to NL in week 2 of season

Corbin Redhounds hire familiar face as girls basketball coach

Corbin High School basketball coach Tony Pietrowski is taking on a new role with the Redhounds. Corbin Redhounds Athletics announced he will take over the girls basketball program. Pietrowski has spent 25 seasons with the boys team. During his tenure, he compiled 528 career wins. Pietrowski spent two seasons coaching middle school girls basketball while his daughter, Lynnlee, played for the team. Lynnlee will be a freshman this fall. Corbin Lady Redhounds basketball coach steps down

Corbin Lady Redhounds Basketball Head Coach Isaac Wilson is stepping down, according to a social media post by Corbin Redhounds Athletics. Wilson led the team for nine seasons and had a 156-110 record. While at the helm, the Lady Redhounds won a 13th Region Championship in 2022, two 50th District titles in 2023 and 2024, and back-to-back WYMT Food City Mountain Basketball Classic championships in 2022 and 2023. W’burg home to 2026 pole vault state champ

Williamsburg is home to one of the newest 2026 KHSAA state champions. Zyler Housekeeper brought home the gold in pole vault during the 2026 Indoor Track & Field State Championships presented by UK HealthCare. The tournament was hosted in Louisville on March 3. Williamsburg competed in the Class A competition. Corbin and Whitley County competed in the Class AA competition.
