Corbin’s Aubree Clemens has inked her commitment to the University of the Cumberlands to play basketball next fall. The Corbin senior scored 288 points last season averaging a little more than 11 points per game. Clemens led the team in rebounds pulling down 212 on the season. She averaged more than eight rebounds per game. Clemens previously played for Whitley County High School. Congratulations to the Corbin Lady Redhounds Girls Golf Team, which finished eighth in the Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s 2026 state tournament. The team shot a two-day total of plus 198 during the final two rounds of the state tournament, which was played at Bowling Green Country Club Friday and Saturday. Conner shot a two-day total of plus 212 to finish ninth. Corbin golfer Makena Myatt finished tied for eighth place shooting a two-day total of 151 or seven over for the two days. Week 6 of NCAA College Football season has just concluded, and it was possibly the most eventful week of college football yet, from thrilling upsets to #1 losing. This is my recap of college football week 6. First, South Carolina stuns #10 Florida in Gainesville. This upset was really a close game up until the 3rd quarter where South Carolina scores 2 touchdowns to blow the game open 31-13. South Carolina would give up a touchdown, but also respond with one, to win 38-19. What's next for Florida? Following the loss, Florida would drop out of the top 25 as they now have no votes to be in the top 25. What’s...

Whitley County put up 20 points, the most points the team has scored in a single game this season, against Perry County Central.  The Colonels rushed the ball for 214 yards with sophomore Brayden Stephens leading the way with 209 yards on 14 carries.  Stephens scored the team's three touchdowns.  Friday night's game was the team's first with coach J.B. Donahue as interim head coach.  The Colonels will face Corbin on Oct. 16.  In the two teams 26 meetings since 1966, Whitley County has never won a football game against Corbin. 

Williamsburg jumped out to an early lead Friday night against Lynn Camp. At the end of the first quarter, the Yellow Jackets led 48-0. Lynn Camp struggled to move the ball. To complicate matters, junior quarterback Conner Mabe was injured with 10:36 left to play in the first quarter. He left the game for several minutes, but he eventually returned. He would go on to score the teams sole touchdown in the third quarter. Beginning with the second quarter, the quarters were shortened to eight minutes. Corbin is 5-2 on the season after a 55-8 win over Harlan County Friday night. "Our plan going into Friday was to really focus on improving in all three phases," said Head Coach Luke Salmons. "Having played six quality Class 5A and 6A teams - along with Johnson Central - helped show us where we stand, what we need to work on, and prepared us well for our district and playoff push.  "Mason Salmons had a big night throwing for almost 350 yards and three touchdowns, and Trey Person had four touchdowns," said Salmons. If you are going to shoot your personal best, then the first round of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) Championship is a really good time to do it. Kudos to the Corbin Girl’s Golf Team, which advanced last week to the final round of the state tournament. Not one, but three players shot their personal best with Kylie Cuel shooting a 98, Brooke Kfoury shooting a 102, and Paige Kfoury shooting a 103 at StoneCrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg. Whitley County volleyball traveled to Corbin to take on the Redhounds in a district match-up on Oct. 1. Whitley County won all three sets (25-20, 25-14 and 25-16). The Colonels are currently ranked number one based on the Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) in the 13th region. Corbin is ranked third in the region.
