You may have noticed the Cumberland Athletics Trailblazers being mentioned in print and online a few times in recent years, but how well do you know the organization? Search underway for new Lady Hounds volleyball head coach

A search is currently ongoing for the next head coach of the Corbin Lady Hounds volleyball program after their coach for the past three seasons, Bryan Johnson, has decided to step away. "It has been an honor to serve as head volleyball coach while continuing the rich traditions that exemplify Corbin Redhound Athletics," Johnson said in a recent statement. Corbin volleyball wins 13th Region championship Tuesday

As reported in the October 17 print edition of the News Journal, the Corbin Lady Hounds volleyball team hosted South Laurel Tuesday night in the championship game of this year's 13th Region tournament. In the end, the Lady Hounds were able to defeat the Lady Cards 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-15, 25-22) to once again become region champs and improve their overall season record to 32-7. After the game, Corbin head coach Bryan Johnson said of his team, "This is awesome. We've worked for this from the get-go, and the girls have never really lost focus. Tuesday Night Highlights: Continuing coverage of volleyball and soccer district tournaments

As reported in the October 10 edition of the News Journal, the Corbin Lady Hounds were set to square off against South Laurel at Williamsburg High School Tuesday night with a 50th District championship title on the line. In the end, it was Corbin who came away with the thrilling 3-2 win (25-23, 22-25, 26-28, 25-18, 15-12) to improve to 29-7 on the year. With the loss, South drops to 29-6 overall. Whitley County High School announces new volleyball coach

Whitley County High School officials announced Thursday that Neysa Hernandez has been hired as the new coach of the Lady Colonels Volleyball program. Hernandez will be leaving her position as volleyball coach at Prattville, Alabama High School to take the new position. “We have had so much success with our volleyball program in recent years and we really want to continue that,” said Whitley County Athletic Director John Siler. “I believe that Coach Hernandez will have the knowledge of the game and the experience as a head coach that is necessary to not only continue our winning tradition but to bring a lot of new perspective as well." David Halcomb hired as new Whitley Co Lady Colonels basketball coach

A press release sent out Friday by Whitley County High School Athletic Director John Siler said the following: A familiar face has been chosen to fill the head coaching position left vacant by the resignation of David Estes earlier this month. David Halcomb has been chosen to lead the Lady Colonels Basketball Program at Whitley County High School. He will be resigning as head coach of girls’ volleyball and the tennis team at the end of the 2018 season in order to assume the head basketball coaching position.
