City of Corbin said to be in ‘year of correction’ when it comes to fiscal management strategy

When it comes to the City of Corbin’s budget for the current fiscal year, which started July 1, there is some good news and some bad news.

The bad news is that it is going to be a very lean, tight austere budget in order to get spending to conform more closely to the city’s current revenue, which is down about 3 percent from the prior fiscal year. The good news is that the public won’t see many changes aside from an increase in their garbage bills, and city employees will be getting a pay increase although it isn’t large.
