Clemon R. Mitchell, 83, of Corbin passed away Saturday morning, January 20, 2018 at Baptist Health Corbin.

Born in Knox County, he was a son of the late Raleigh and Nancy Mahan Mitchell.

Clemon worked 39 years as a telegraph technician for the Western Union Co.

He enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, and especially caring for his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Lois McKnight Mitchell; two daughters, Jenny Iley and husband Matt, and Tammy Sutton and husband Brian; three grandchildren, Madison Sutton, Dakota Sutton, and Zoe Iley; seven siblings, Zelda Patterson of Trenton, OH, Rondal Mitchell and wife Jackie of Loveland, OH, Shirley McNeil of Corbin, Wendal Mitchell and wife Diane of Corbin, Joe Mitchell and wife Mary of Hamilton, OH, and Patsy Centers and husband Ralph of Corbin; and several nieces and nephews.

Clemon’s funeral was held January 22 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Pastor Chad Fugitt officiating.

Interment was at Rest Haven Cemetery.
