Corbin Schools Superintendent Ed McNeel said he will present the Kentucky Board of Education’s decision on the non-resident agreement dispute with Knox County to the board Monday night.
"They will likely go into executive session to discuss it as it involves pending litigation," McNeel said of the board.
The question remains whether the board will elect to appeal the state board’s decision to Franklin Circuit Court.
Tuesday night, the state school board amended Kentucky Education Commissioner Terry Holliday’s decision to permit students already attending Corbin Independent or Knox County Schools under the reciprocal agreement to continue to do so, to include the siblings of those students.
In addition, the state board added its own emphasis to Holliday’s suggestion that the two sides engage in mediation in an attempt to find a permanent solution.
McNeel said the Corbin School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at Corbin Middle School. The meeting is open to the public.
