After last week’s regional championship competitions, a long list of local high school track and field athletes have qualified to take part in this year’s Kentucky High School Athletic Association championships meets.
The 2025 KHSAA championships are slated to get underway this Thursday, May 29, at the University of Kentucky’s outdoor track facility in Lexington. On that day, several Williamsburg Yellow Jackets and Lady Jackets will be in action in this year’s Class A finale.
The complete list of qualifiers and alternates making the trip to UK from Williamsburg includes: Ellie Breeding, Trenton Cornett, Lani Couto, Tatum Croley, Lynsie Durham, Braylee Evans, Ashtyn Foley, Nate Goodin, Nick Hale, Peyton Hamilton, Bailee Hill, Zyler Housekeeper, Lane Jeffries, Eli Meadors, Emma Meadors, Marissa Meadors, Chase Meddles, Addison Moore, Brianna Morgan, Ethan Moses, Jeremiah Poindexter, Kaylee Rains, Jania Stephens, Alex White and Heidi Wiles.
Events that WIS students will be competing in Thursday include the boys and girls high jump, boys and girls pole vault, boys long jump, boys and girls triple jump, girls 4×800-meter relay, girls 100-meter hurdles, boys 110-meter hurdles, boys 4×200-meter relay, girls 1600-meter run, boys 4×100-meter relay, girls 300-meter hurdles, boys and girls 300-meter hurdles, boys 200-meter dash, girls 3200-meter run, and the boys and girls 4×400-meter relays.
On Friday, student-athletes from Corbin and Whitley County high schools will make their way to UK for this year’s Class 2A championship meet. The list of competitors from Corbin includes: Mallory Bradshaw, NaShawn Brooks, Jon Brown, Kylie Clem, Emely Colchado, Isaiah Curry, Creed Davies, Kobe Dixon, Masyn Elam, Hadley Elmore, Liam Flynn, Lynlee Flynn, Jaycee Frye, Ella Hammons, Jace Hatfield, Kennedy Howard, JB Llewellyn, Emma Massengill, Jaxon McHargue, Addison Owens, Carson Price, Ethan Slone, Jayce Stewart, Ben Teague, Kaleb Terrell and Hartlee Viars.
Redhounds and Lady Hounds will compete in the boys shot put, boys and girls high jump, girls pole vault, boys and girls triple jump, boys and girls 4×800-meter relays, girls 100-meter hurdles, boys 110-meter hurdles, boys and girls 1600-meter run, boys and girls 400-meter dash, boys and girls 300-meter hurdles, boys and girls 800-meter dash, boys and girls 3200-meter dash, and the boys and girls 4×400-meter relays.
Finally, Whitley County Colonels and Lady Colonels appearing the Class 2A finale include: Channing Carte, Hydro Cunnagin, Gavin Doty, John Dzialo, Josh Grubb, Brileigh Logan, Tanner Logan, Bryson Mahan, Brayden Martin, Haydon Moses, Colton Mullis, Aliyah Nugent, Dee Parker, Wesley Sizemore and Emily West.
Whitley athletes will compete in the girls long jump, boys 110-meter hurdles, boys 4×200-meter relay, boys 4×400-meter relay, and the unified 2×50-meter relay.
