Corbin woman charged with shoplifting, parking in handicapped space

Date:

Corbin Police were leading a 39-year-old woman from Belk where she had been arrested for shoplifting makeup and being under the influence of drugs to find she had parked her vehicle in a handicapped parking space.

Jennifer M. LeFevers of Corbin was arrested just before 1 p.m. Saturday at the store in the Trademart shopping center where she had been detained by Belk loss prevention.

Corbin Police Colonel David Maiden stated that he was called to the store in response to a complaint that LeFevers had been detained.

According to the arrest citation, loss prevention had observed LeFevers place assorted makeup valued at $86 inside her purse and shopping bag and attempt to leave the store without paying for the items.

Maiden said when questioning LeFevers, she appeared drowsy and had dilated pupils. Four small blue pills identified as Oxycodone were found in a small baggie inside her wallet.

LeFevers was charged with theft by unlawful taking of the value under $500 – shoplifting, public intoxication – controlled substances, second-degree possession of a controlled substance and unauthorized parking in a handicapped zone, and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
