Corbin woman charged with shoplifting, trespassing at Walmart

Date:

A Corbin woman, who had previously been ordered to stay out of Walmart after she was caught shoplifting at the Corbin store, was arrested last Wednesday for shoplifting.

Linda G. Young, 43, faces charges of theft by unlawful taking of the value under $500 and third-degree criminal trespassing.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said deputies were dispatched to the Corbin Walmart at approximately 1 p.m. after Walmart loss prevention had detained Young after she allegedly attempted to leave the store with $14.91 worth of unpaid merchandise.

Following Young’s previous shoplifting arrest, she had been trespassed from the Corbin Walmart, meaning she was not to be back on the store’s property.

Young has pleaded not guilty to the charges and is scheduled to return to Laurel District Court on Feb. 5 for a pretrial hearing.
