Daymond Estil Helton, 90, of Jacks Fork Road, Rockholds, departed this life on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Baptist Health in Corbin.

He was born on June 15, 1928 in Rockholds, to the late Luther Helton and Nona (Sharpe) Helton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Joyce Helton and brother, Donald Bruce Helton.

He was a retired Major with the United States Air Force (23 years), taught mathematics at the USAF Academy and served in Korean War.

He was director of Singing Hills Bible Camp, Active member of the Gideon Bible Society, and Member of Grace on the Hill Methodist Church in Corbin.

He is survived by four sons, Roy Blane Helton (wife Missy) of Pigeon Forge, TN, Eric Ross Helton of Jacks Fork, Greg Kim Helton (wife Sharon Lynn) of Jacks Fork, Robert Byron Helton (wife Melissa) of Jacks Fork; special family, Oneda Bain of Lexington; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Barbara Roberts of Jacks Fork; daughter-in-law, Debra Speir of Williamsburg; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral services were held Thursday, November 1, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Levi Skeen and Rev. Weyman McGuire officiating.

Following the service he was laid to rest the Sharpe Cemetery.

Military graveside honors were conducted by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin,
