Death penalty withdrawn as sentencing option in federal murder case

The death penalty is officially off the table for a Woodbine man accused of killing his girlfriend in 2019.

According to a notice filed in U.S. District Court earlier this month, prosecutors in the case against Daniel Nantz, 32, who is facing murder and kidnapping charges in the death of Geri D. Johnson, have withdrawn their intent to seek the death penalty.
