Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Kirk Mays is off duty until a court case involving him is resolved.

A Whitley County Sheriff’s deputy is currently on leave due to an emergency protective order that was filed against him earlier this month by his ex-girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend, who is a 911 dispatcher, is currently on leave from her job pending the resolution of a felony criminal case which was filed against her the day after she took out the EPO against her ex-boyfriend.
