It was a night of district competition Friday in Corbin and Williamsburg.
The Corbin Redhounds hosted their first district game of the season when they welcomed in the Letcher County Central Cougars for this year’s Grace Health Bowl. The Hounds were dominant, shutting out the Cougars, 35-0, to improve to 6-1 on the season. Next week, they will make the short trip south on I-75 to face the Whitley County Colonels.
Speaking of the Colonels, they also managed to secure a district victory Friday, pulling out a 17-14 win over the visiting Perry County Central Commodores. The win improves the team to 4-3 ahead of their encounter with Corbin next week.
Finally, the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets got their second district win in as many weeks Friday, traveling to Lynn Camp and cruising to a 48-0 shutout victory. The Jackets now stand at 4-1 overall while the Wildcats fall to 3-3. Next week, Williamsburg will be back at home for the first time since Sept. 6, hosting Middlesboro (4-3). Lynn Camp will travel to face Harlan (1-6).
