A pair of shutouts in Williamsburg highlight this week’s area high school football action.
The Whitley County Colonels were thinking upset when they hosted the Corbin Redhounds, but they were never able to get anything going as the Hounds dominated all facets of the game en route to a 49-0 victory. With the win, Corbin improves to 7-1 on the year. The Colonels fall to 4-4.
Across town, the the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets had no trouble with visiting Middlesboro, defeating the “other” Jackets by a final score of 36-6. The win puts Williamsburg at 5-1 overall.
Finally, the Lynn Camp Wildcats went on the road Friday and fell to Harlan Independent, 30-8. The 3-4 Cats will travel again next week to play at Pineville.
In other scheduled football action for next Friday, Oct. 25, Williamsburg will host Harlan, Corbin will travel to face Perry County Central and Whitley County will make the trip to play Letcher County Central. Look in the Oct. 23 print edition of the News Journal for more details.
