Coverage area teams faced off against district opponents in week 8 of the 2023 high school football season…

The Williamsburg Yellow Jackets won their fourth game in a row and improved to 4-2 overall with a 50-0 shutout victory over the visiting Lynn Camp Wildcats (2-5). The Jackets will kick off a three week road tour to finish out the regular season next week when they travel to face the Yellow Jackets of Middlesboro (5-2). The Wildcats will return home for another district showdown against the Harlan Green Dragons (1-6).

The Whitley County Colonels also managed to put a bunch of points on the board Friday, traveling to Perry County Central and securing a 56-32 district win over the Commodores. The Colonels, now 5-2 on the season, will make the trip to Corbin next week to face the undefeated Redhounds for the first place spot in Class 4A, District 8.

Speaking of the Hounds, they made the long road trip to Letcher County Central this week, coming away with a 39-14 victory over the Cougars. With the win, the team now stands at a perfect 7-0 on the season.
