Gerri Riley Vanover, age 90, of Williamsburg, KY, passed away peacefully March 29, 2023 at her home.
She was born on June 18, 1932 in Whitley County to the late Basil K. and Mossie Riley.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, W. F. Vanover; one brother, Kenny Riley; one sister, Roberta Vanover; brother-in-law, Robert Vanover; daughters, Linda Prewitt, and Billie Cox; one son, Mark Vanover; sons-in-law, James Prewitt, Ward Wilson, and Tom Cox. She was also preceded in death by one beloved granddaughter, Stefany Fairbanks,
She is survived by her brother, Jack Riley and wife Carolyn; sister-in-law, Vonda Riley; daughters, Marti Wilson, Dyan Fairbanks, Janet Parman and husband Russell; six grandchildren, and a host of beloved friends and family.
Gerri was a United Methodist Woman of the Year in the Barbourville District, a lifelong promoter of literacy, was active in the Kentucky Federation of Womans Club, United Methodist Church, and winner of the Doris Day Kindred Spirit Award. She was also instrumental in the beginning of Refuge Ridge Sanctuary.
A private graveside service will be held in Whitley County at a later date.
