Gray man arrested after entering Laurel County home

Date:

A sheriff’s deputy recently arrested a Gray man, who was found inside a southern Laurel County home with a broken rear door that was allegedly not his residence.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy James Fox arrested Travis L. Blackwood, 29, of Gray, early Sunday morning and charged him with third-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, and fourth-degree assault in connection with the incident.

Fox and Deputy Skyler McFarland with assistance from the London Police Department and the Laurel County constable’s office responded about 12:43 a.m. to a residence off McCarty Lane, which is about seven miles south of London, in response to a burglary in progress complaint, according to a Laurel County Sheriff’s Department release.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Blackwood inside the home, the release stated.

In addition, Blackwood was also served with a Whitley District Court complaint warrant, which was issued in connection with a third-degree terroristic threatening charge, according to the release.

He was booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center at 2:44 a.m. Sunday, and was released from there shortly before 8 p.m. Monday, according to the correctional center’s website.

According to court records, Blackwood is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 14 in Laurel District Court.
