Gray woman charged with attempting to shoplift $10 pair of shoes

A Gray woman is facing a shoplifting charge in Laurel County after police say she put on a new pair of shoes and attempted to walk out of the Corbin Walmart Wednesday night without paying for them.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, 35-year-old Angelia Bolton has been charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking of the value under $500 – shoplifting after Walmart’s loss prevention team stopped her after she allegedly attempted to leave the store while wearing the shoes valued at $9.88.

In addition, Bolton was served with an outstanding bench warrant out of Laurel County for failure to appear in court to answer charges of resisting arrest, public intoxication – controlled substances, theft by unlawful taking, possession of marijuana and contempt of court.

Bolton is being held in the Laurel County Detention Center on a $1,000 cash bond.
