Laurel deputies seek public’s help to find man accused of using stolen debit card

Date:

Public assistance is requested to identify a man that is accused of using a stolen credit card at Wal-Mart in southern Laurel County at approximately 6:04 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputy Josh Scott, along with other deputies, of the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department have investigated several thefts of items from parked vehicles which have occurred in the Lily/Keavy area, including KY 552 and Rook’s Branch Road.

According to a release by Sheriff’s John Root, two recent thefts occurred in those areas Wednesday morning. The contents of one vehicle were stolen, including the debit card used by the man in Wal-Mart.

Deputy Scott has been working alongside Wal-Mart’s management to review surveillance video from the store to identify the possible suspect, though public assistance may be necessary in identifying the man as the investigation is continuing.

If anyone can identify this suspect, please contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s office at 606-846-6600 or 606-879-7000. Information will be strictly confidential.

Sheriff Root stated in the release that he would like to “remind everyone to please lock your vehicles and secure you belongings in your vehicle. Items of value, including purses, wallets and electronic devices, should be removed from the vehicle and not left in plain view.”
