Corbin mother charged with shoplifting, deputies searching for daughter

A Corbin woman was arrested last Tuesday at Wal-Mart near Corbin, while another fled the scene.

 

Michelle Elizabeth Payne, 34, of Spider Creek Rd. and her daughter were allegedly observed by Wal-Mart’s loss prevention team concealing store merchandise, according a release by Sheriff John Root.

 

Deputy Kyle Gray of the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene and arrested Payne after conducting an investigation at approximately 2:35 p.m. The total value of the theft was $82.53.

 

Payne’s daughter fled the scene before loss prevention could detain her, thought the Sheriff’s office said in their release that the investigation continues.

 

Michelle Elizabeth Payne was charged with theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
