High School Football Round-Up: Week 8

All coverage area teams hosted district opponents this week, with two walking away victorious.

The Williamsburg Yellow Jackets picked up a 26-16 win over the Harlan Green Dragons, improving to 4-2 on the season, 1-0 in district play. Next week, the Jackets will travel to face the undefeated Pineville Mountain Lions.

Speaking of the Mountain Lions, they made the trip to Lynn Camp in week 8, handing the Wildcats a 45-6 loss that dropped them to 2-5 on the season. The Cats will travel to Harlan Independent next week.

The Corbin Redhounds hosted the Knox Central Panthers this week to open up regular season district play. The contest was about as one sided as they come, with the Hounds winning 50-0 to remain unbeaten on the year at 7-0. Corbin will be at home again in week 9, welcoming in Lincoln County.

Finally, the Whitley County Colonels had a tough night against the visiting Southwestern Warriors, falling to 1-6, 0-2 after a 40-6 loss. Next week, the Colonels will attempt to break their losing streak and pick up an important district victory when they travel to London to face the North Laurel Jaguars.
