Jack Leon Young, age 82, of Jellico, Tennessee passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025, in Corbin, Kentucky.
He was born June 20, 1943, Kentucky Hill (Jellico, Kentucky).
He served on the Jellico Fire Department and Jellico Rescue Squad for 63 years. He was the Captain of the Fire Department for 52 years.
Jack is preceded in death by his daughter, Melissa Ann Young; great-granddaughters, Ellynor Fayth Thompson, Gabrielle Matthews; parents, Charlie and Maude (Moss) Young; brothers, Earnest Lewis, Woody Young, Charles Young; sisters, Bonnie Lewis, Jenny Herron; father and mother-in law, Luther and Victoria Anthony.
He is survived by wife, Norma Jean Young of Jellico; daughters, Vicky Wilson and husband Larry of Jellico, Regina Hicks and husband Kenny of Corbin, Kentucky; grandchildren, Andrew Young of Jellico, Anthony Meredith and wife Jennifer of Williamsburg, Kendra Hicks Thompson and husband Curtis of North Myrtle Beach, Austin Wilson and wife Felicia of Jellico, John Wilson of Camden, TN, Jaron Wilson and wife Ashley of Toledo, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Cooper, Ryleigh and Olivia Meredith of Williamsburg, KY, Ashlynn, Brody, Avery Young of Jellico, TN, Kayce Layne Thompson of North Myrtle Beach, Skyler Griffith and wife Kaity of Williamsburg, Andrew Griffith and wife Sydney of London, KY, Jaden Mathews, Jordon Griffith both of Williamsburg, Zander Wilson of Toledo, OH, Kendall Moody of Knoxville, TN; great-great-grandchildren, Mya and Tatum Griffith of Williamsburg, Rome Griffith of London, KY; sister, June Bowery of OH, sister-in-law, Betty Lewis of OH; bonus children, Paige Deuel Stroud, Crystal Deuel, Nancy Leach Rookard, Natasha Bruce Blair; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family to mourn his passing.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Thursday, December 4 at Harp Funeral Home Chapel
Funeral service will be at 2 pm on Friday, December 5, at Harp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Angel, Rev. Wayne Barton and Rev. Mike Douglas officiating.
Burial will follow at the Douglas Cemetery in the Wooldridge community.
