Jesse Bartlett Mountjoy, 93, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening.

He was preceded in death by his parents Golda and Esther, and siblings, Tom, Dorothy, and Lawrence. Jesse was born July 2, 1924, graduated from Danville High School, served in the United States Navy, and earned degrees from Cumberland College and E.K.U.

Jesse was a lifelong teacher and coach, loved and admired by all who knew him. He was the Superintendent of Williamsburg Independent School, a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Kiwanis, Sons of the American Revolution, and a proud World War II veteran affiliated with VFW Post 3167.

Jesse is survived by his wife of 69 years, Marcella Faulkner Mountjoy, sons Michael (Carolyn), John David (Teri), and daughter Marcy, grandchildren Bart, Emily, John, Meredith, Jessica, Matt, and Jake, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and numerous dear friends.

The funeral service was held at the First Baptist Church of Williamsburg, Saturday, October 14.
Interment will be private.
