John Welsey Prewitt Jr., age 75, of Williamsburg, KY, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. He was born March 26, 1950 in Benham, KY, to the late John Wesley and Anna Mae Chinn Prewitt Sr.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by three siblings, Kenneth Prewitt, Christine Ball, Don Prewitt (Bonnie); three infant siblings, Tommy Prewitt, Colleen Prewitt, Geraldine Prewit; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Harlow, and Jack Aaron.
John was a member of Emlyn Church of God. He worked at US Steel and Arch of Kentucky for 23 years. He also worked at Firestone for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Davis Prewitt of Williamsburg, KY; children, Paul Prewitt (Beth) of Williamsburg, KY, Celina Sherman (Mike) of Villa Rica, GA, Ronnie Prewitt of Williamsburg, KY, Wes Prewitt (Mary) of London, KY, Liberty Miracle of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Trevor Prewitt, Ava Grace Prewitt, Victoria Luntsford, Crystal Luntsford, Ava Riann Prewitt, Brody Sherman, Melody Sherman, Madison Surber (David), Mark Allen Prewitt, Christian Prewitt, Nicolas Prewi; siblings, Ben Prewitt (Jewel) of Edgewater, FL, OJ Prewitt of Ecorse, MI, Dorothy Ball of Dayton, OH, Sue Neace of Norton, VA, Helen Aaron of Norto; several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Homegoing service will be 2:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, at the Emlyn Church of God with Rev. Harold Long, Rev. Russell Creekmore, Rev. Morse Lovitt, and Rev. Ronnie Bowman officiating.
Interment will be in Emlyn Cemetery.
Visitation will be 12:00 PM until the homegoing service hour Tuesday, December 30, at the Emlyn Church of God.
