Funeral services for Juanita Horton Franks, 85, of Lexington, were held Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with interment in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family received friends following the service at the funeral home.
Juanita was born to the late John M. Horton and Opha Swafford Horton on November 10, 1932 in Hyden, KY.
She passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and especially enjoyed entertaining, sewing and retirement life with her husband Ken. She had the sweetest smile that captured your heart.
She was a graduate of Berea College with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and received her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Radford College. She taught school for many years but her greatest joy came from being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her daughter, Joanna Franks Miller (Lee) of Lexington; grandchildren, Trent, Christi and Jason Miller; brothers, Bill Horton (Janice) and Johnny Horton both of Hyden, KY.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Dr. Robert Kenneth “Ken” Franks and son, Robert Franks, Jr.
Memorials may be made to University of the Cumberlands or Berea College.
