In accordance with KRS 350.050, notice is hereby given that Mountainside Coal Co., Inc., 7692 S. HWY 25W, Williamsburg, KY 40769 has applied for a permit renewal for a surface and auger/highwall mining and reclamation operation affecting 616.7 total acres, located in Whitley and Knox counties, Kentucky.

The operation is located 2.4 miles northeast of the community of Siler and 1.8 miles north of the confluence of Harpes creek and Puncheon branch in Whitley County. The permit area is approximately 1.16 miles north of the intersection of Puncheon Branch Road and Harpes Creek road. The latitude is 36° 41’ 51” N and the longitude is 83° 55’ 53”W.

The operation is located on the Frakes USGS 7 ½ minute quadrangle map. The operation will use the contour and auger/highwall mining methods. The surface is owned by Corrigan TLP LLC, TKY Acquisitions LLC, and Ed B. Jones.

This is the final advertisement of this application. All comments, objects or requests for a permit conference must be received within thirty (30) days of today’s date. The renewal application has been filed for public inspection at the Department for Natural Resources Middlesboro Regional Office, 1804 East Cumberland Avenue, Middlesboro, Kentucky 40965. Written comments or objections must be filed with the Director, Division of Permits, #2 Hudson Hollow, U.S. 127 South, Frankfort, Kentucky 40601.

In accordance with KRS 350.055, notice is hereby given that Alden Resources LLC, 332 West Cumberland Gap Parkway, Suite 100, Corbin, Kentucky 40701 has applied for renewal of a permit for a surface coal mining and reclamation operation affecting 637.76 acres located 0.5 miles north of Perkins in Whitley County.

The proposed major revision area is approximately 0.9 miles east from the Maple Creek Road (KY HWY 779) junction with Brown Creek Road and located 600 feet southeast of Phoebe Fork.

The proposed operation is located on the Rockholds, KY 7½ minute quadrangle map. The operation will use the contour and auger method of surface mining. The surface area to be disturbed is owned by Johnnie Johnson, Charles Paul, Roger Griffith, Michael W. and Teresa M. Tallent, Jerry Andrew Croley, Edwin Webb, Wilma Corbin, Samuel McFarland, David Boyd, William and Edna Hill, Ray and Geneva Hill, Doris Vanover, Eugene Burgan, Richard Cummings, Rondall Hubbs, Rosetta Fields, Bill Smith, Wilma Corbin, Georgie Terrell, Edwin Webb, James Martin, Rick Thornsberry, Samuel McFarland, Janice Hamm, Verlon Johnson, Dee Woods Heirs c/o Norma Jean Siler and Ella Baker Heirs c/o Donna Mullins.

WHEREAS: Pursuant to the provisions of KRS 242.020 and KRS 242.185, the Whitley County Clerk has notified the Whitley County Judge Executive that a petition for local option election has been filed, and

WHEREAS: Required by KRS 242.020 subsection {5} which states, “After a petition for election has been filed, the County Judge Executive shall make an order in the Order Book of the Court directing that the election be held In that territory.”

THEREFORE: I, Pat White Jr., Judge/Executive, pursuant to KRS 242.050 hereby declare that the question “Are you in favor of the sale of alcoholic beverages in Williamsburg, Kentucky?” be placed on a Special Election Ballot on June 28, 2016, within the boundaries of the City of Williamsburg, Kentucky.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Whitley County Fiscal Court was recently awarded a grant through the US Department of Homeland Security and FEMA and will be accepting SEALED bids for four new LifePak 15 Cardiac Monitors.

Beginning June 8, 2016, bid specs for the above listed product can be picked up at the Whitley County Judge/Executive’s Office, downloaded from the Whitley County Fiscal Court’s website at www.whitleycountyfiscalcourt.com or contact the office at (606) 549-6000. Please mark the envelope “Sealed Bid – Cardiac Monitors”.

Bids will be accepted up to and opened at 3:00 P.M. on June 20, 2016, in the Whitley County Fiscal Courtroom on the 2nd floor of the Courthouse. Bids will be opened and read aloud at this time. Bids will be presented to and awarded at the Whitley County Fiscal Court Meeting on June 21st at 6 P.M.

Conflicts of interest, gratuities and kickbacks are defined in KRS 45A.445 and as provided for in KRS 45A.445 are absolutely prohibited.

WHITLEY COUNTY FISCAL COURT

INVITATION TO BID

The Whitley County Fiscal Court is accepting bids for a 20 ft. by 24 ft. steel mesh bridge deck to be delivered to Alsile Road. Sealed bids must be at the Whitley County Judge Executive’s office, 200 Main Street, Williamsburg, KY not later than 2:00 June 20th 2016. Bids will be opened at that time. The bid will be awarded at the Fiscal Court meeting, which begins at 6:00 pm, June 21st 2016.

 

The deck must meet the following standards:

-Be constructed of ASTM A588 Weathering Steel with open grid deck.

-Be AASHTO approved.

-Be adequate to carry HS 20-44 loading.

-Meet all Kentucky Load and Engineering Requirements

-Have “W” face guardrail with mounts and end treatments

-Contractor will deliver bridge deck to construction site

 

The successful bidder must present a Kentucky Engineer stamped set of plans to the representative of the Whitley County Fiscal Court after the bid has been awarded.

Notice of Request for Approval of a Municipal Pretreatment Program Modification

In accordance with the provisions of the Clean Water Act of 1977 and the National Pretreatment Program, the Corbin City Utilities Commission has developed and submitted for approval by the Energy and Environment Cabinet, Division of Water, a modification to the pretreatment program for Corbin City Utilities Commission. KEEC, Division of Water, has made a preliminary determination that this pretreatment program modification meets the requirements of 401 KAR 5:057, Section 6 and 40 CFR 403.

The modification will result in the revision of local discharge limitations for the Corbin wastewater treatment plant.
