Members of UE Local 728, a chapter of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America that help maintain operations at the Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg, made a large donation of school supplies to the Whitley County School District on Monday afternoon. The donation included $1,000 worth of supplies that students in the district are most in need of. According to Melissa Sergent-Hamblin, treasurer of UE Local 728, the union has provided school supplies to local school districts for the past four year. The supplies are paid for with money using member dues, which requires a majority vote by members. Family resource personnel from throughout the district were also on hand to accept the donation.
