Police release identity of pedestrian killed in Friday morning near Exit 29

Laurel County authorities have released the name of a pedestrian, who was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday morning on I-75 near Exit 29.

The deceased has been identified as James Zeo, 47, of Corbin, according to a Laurel County Sheriff’s Department release.

Laurel Sheriff’s Accident Reconstructionist Deputy Brad Mink investigated a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic fatality, which occurred on I-75, just south of mile marker 29 in the southbound lane.

The investigating deputy reports that a pedestrian apparently entered the path of a southbound Odyssey van and was struck on the unlit roadway. The pedestrian received fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.

The occupant of the Odyssey wasn’t injured.

Assisting at the scene was West Knox Volunteer Fire Department, London Laurel Rescue Squad, Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, Laurel Sheriff’s Shift Sgt. Brett Reeves, Detective Tommy Houston, and London City Police Lt. Ryan Jackson.
