A Corbin man arrested on 10 counts of first-degree sexual abuse and 10 counts of first-degree sodomy pleaded not guilty to the charges on Friday in Laurel County Circuit Court.
Clayton B. Lockaby, 62, was arrested on June 5 following a three-month-long investigation led by Jesse Armstrong.
Lockaby appeared before Judge Michael Caperton.
Sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 12 is a 10 to 20 year sentence and sodomy of a victim under the age of 12 is a sentence of 20 to 50 year sentence.
Jackie Steele, Commonwealth’s attorney, stated, if convicted on the charges, Lockaby could face a 70-year sentence or life in prison due to the Kentucky Statutes.
Lockaby would have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence on the sodomy charges before being eligible for parole.
According to the Kentucky Statutes, individuals must appear before the parole board at least every 20 years except if sentenced to life without parole or given a death sentence.
Caperton left Lockaby’s bond at $100,000 cash. In addition, Caperton ordered that Lockaby had no contact with the victim or the victim’s family.
Lockaby is set to appear for pretrial on July 19.
