Lois Jean Smith, 84, of Twilight Avenue, Nicholasville, formerly of Williamsburg passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the home of her daughter.

She was born on September 30, 1932 in Williamsburg, to the late Harrison Smith and Stella (Millis) Smith.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lorene Smith, Bessie Cox, Zella Lee and Linda Williams; brothers, Walter Smith, Ray Smith, Blaine Smith and Roy Smith and a grandchild, Ritchie Mayne.

Lois was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and worked at the Whitley County Board of Education for over 34 years.

She is survived by her adopted daughter, Patricia Mayne of Nicholasville and her former husband, Johnny Mayne of Eubank; three grandchildren, Robert Mayne and wife Cathy of Somerset, Jason Mayne of Nicholasville and Renea Mayne Mullins and husband Todd of Nicholasville; seven great-grandchildren, Dakota, Halie, Austin, Devin, Connor, Gavin and Sawyer; great-great grandchild, Bryson; many beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.

The funeral service was held Saturday, March 4, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doyle Lester officiating.

She was laid to rest in the Piney Grove Cemetery.
