Major League Baseball: Top 3 divisions that I believe are over

Date:

The MLB season is very close to ending and some divisions are pretty much over and some divisions are going to come down to the wire. Here are the top 3 divisions that I believe are over.

First, the National League (NL) East. In the NL East the Braves have a 7.5 game lead on the Phillies.  Coming out of the trade deadline both teams made great deals, the head of the Braves deadline was Tyler Mahle, who in a Braves uniform has a 0.75 ERA, the Phillies got one of the best second basemen in allstar Louis Arraez who is batting .315 this season.

Leading up to just before the trade deadline, the Phillies went on a hot streak and cut the Braves lead to 3 games at one point. However, coming out of the trade deadline the Braves went on a 8-game winning streak and extended their lead on the Phillies putting the Braves where they are now.

Next, the NL West where the Dodgers lead the Padres by 7 games.

The Dodgers had the best trade deadline in the majors, they got 2x American League (AL) Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal in a trade for 3 prospects which is arguably the best trade from the entire deadline.

The Padres had a good trade deadline getting Robbie Ray and Casey Mize. However, even though the Padres are on a hot streak, winning 8 out of their last 10, the Dodgers have just too much talent for the Padres and they will fall short of LA.

Finally, I believe the AL Central is over. Currently the White Sox have a 5.5 game lead over the Tigers for 1st place.

The White Sox didn’t make many big name deals at the trade deadline, however they got Munetaka Murakami back which makes a big difference for the rest of the season.

The Tigers on the other hand made a big move in trading away their best pitcher for prospects, this move I believe will hurt the Tigers in the long run. Another reason why I think the White Sox will win the division is, because of their win streak, currently the White Sox are on a 3-game winning streak, the Tigers are on a 3-game losing streak showing that one team is hotter than the other.

In conclusion, the playoffs are a month and a half away, and some divisions look different than others.

Some divisions there are a very clear 1st place winner, and in others the 1st and 2nd place teams are very close. Some divisions are filled with powerhouse teams and others are filled with nearly .500 teams.

Even though most people can agree on 3 teams that can win the World Series, an underdog story could still happen.

These are the 3 divisions that I believe are over.
