Martha Ann (Ayers) Adkins, age 82, of the Hoot Owl Hollow Community of Jellico, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.
She was born on February 2, 1941, to the late John Alfred Ayers and Etta Mildred Ayers in Athens, TN.
Martha was a graduate of Jellico High School – class of 1959.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Sue Nayles, and husband, Willard; brother, Johnny Ayers; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom Adkins and Lona (Lawson) Adkins.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Lee Adkins, of the Hoot Owl Hollow Community; son, Tommy Lee Adkins, and wife, Teresa, of Jellico; three grandchildren, Mallory Adkins-Baird, and husband, Tony, of Jacksboro, Taylor Leeann Adkins and Caleb Adkins, both of Jellico; five great-grandchildren, Cruze Baird, Truth Baird, Maylon Baird, Caroline Adkins, and Stormi Adkins; three sisters, Pat Bryant, and husband, Eddie, of Newcomb, Sammie Jo Jeffers, and husband, Carl, of Loveland, Ohio, and Marietta “Bunny” McCullah, and husband, Donnie, of LaFollette; brother, Mike Ayers, and wife, Sherry, of LaFollette; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends, neighbors, and other relatives to mourn her passing.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday afternoon, March 18, beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel.
The memorial service will immediately follow on Saturday evening, March 18, at 7:00 p.m. at the Cox & Son Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Trey Brock and Bro. Austin Partin officiating.
