Martha Elsie Rains Burke

Martha Elsie Rains Burke, age 80, of Williamsburg, KY, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025 at her home.
She was born February 28, 1944 in Whitley County, KY, to the late George Anderson (Exie) Rains and Dessie Thelma (Barton) Rains. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Leslie Burke Jr.; son, Curtis Lee Burke; her sister, Ruth Louise Rains; and brother, Curtis Leon (Sonny) Rains.
She is survived by her son, Billy Burke of Williamsburg, KY; granddaughter, Kacie Hersey (Nathaniel) of Williamsburg, KY; great-grandson, Olson Hersey of Williamsburg, KY; sister, Carrie Strunk of Williamsburg, KY; sister-in-law, Linnea Rains of Emlyn, KY; three nieces, Karen Schoonover (Jeff) of Abilene, TX, Teresa Lambdin (Jimmy) of Williamsburg, KY, Natosha Hurst (Brian) of Williamsburg, KY; nephew, Curtis Rains II of Williamsburg, KY; three great-nephews, Nick Lambdin (Sara), Zachary Schoonover of Abilene, TX, Logan Schoonover of Abilene, TX; special extended family, Hannah Lawson of Williamsburg, KY, Matthew Lawson of Columbus, OH; and several family and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral service was Friday, February 28, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Long officiating.
Interment followed in Rains Cemetery.
